Ampang is one of the main townships of Kuala Lumpur which has seen plenty of changes over the years. As large as it is, the district of Ampang is divided into two sections and belong to different jurisdictions; of which the section which falls under the territory of Selangor is also known as Ampang Jaya while the section that falls under the territory of Kuala Lumpur is simply known as Ampang.
